We invite UK architects to complete an Equality and Diversity (E&D) survey. Here you can find the anonymised data we have collected.

It is important to note that E&D survey data may vary from Architects Register data. This is because every architect must provide certain, legally recognised information as part of the registration process. In contrast the E&D survey is voluntary, reflects how architects self-identify and includes different categories.

We recognise the importance of being as transparent as possible with information we hold. We hope this data is useful to policy makers and those that are able to effect social change. It also enables us to ensure our ways of working are in line with the Equality Act and as free from discrimination as possible.

The E&D survey has recently been revised so that the gender and sexuality categories are more inclusive. It has also being expanded to include socio-economic information as we feel this is an important trend to monitor. As we collect new data we will update the information here.

The information below is accurate as of 4 March 2024 and the next update will be Tuesday 2 April 2024.

The survey is compulsory for all architects, although ‘prefer not to say’ options are available for those who do not wish to give EDI data. We currently hold E&D data for 94.6% of the Register.

In order to have as much insight as possible into the composition of the Architects Register, we encourage all UK architects to complete the E&D Survey.

Whether you’re providing information for the first time or you want to update your previous responses, you can complete the survey quickly and easily by logging in to your MyARB profile.
