Independent Non-Exec Role – Audit and Risk Assurance Committee

Fee:  £300 per day (or part thereof), subject to Board approval

Audit and Risk Assurance Committee

ARB was established by an Act of Parliament – the Architects Act 1997 (the “Act”) – and is the statutory regulator of architects in the UK.

ARB’s statutory responsibilities are contained in the Act, and cover six main areas:

  • Prescribing the qualifications needed to become an architect in the UK
  • Keeping the UK Register of Architects
  • Ensuring that architects meet our standards for conduct and practice
  • Investigating complaints about an architect’s conduct or competence
  • Making sure that only people on our register offer their services as an architect
  • Acting as the UK’s competent authority for architects

The Audit and Risk Assurance Committee (ARAC) is a Committee of the Board and has no executive powers.  Its purpose is to support the Board and ARB’s Accounting Officer in their responsibilities for risk management, control and governance.

We are seeking to strengthen the Committee and would value the input of a professionally qualified accountant with a senior level operational and financial management experience as well as a background in risk, and preferably non-executive experience.

Sharing our values and vision you will bring your expertise and experience to help support the Board and ARB’s Accounting Officer in their responsibilities by reviewing the comprehensiveness, reliability and integrity of assurances.
