Accountability

ARB has a responsibility to members of the public, architects and Parliament to be transparent and accountable in its business operations.  In keeping with out commitment to transparency, we have published the allowances paid to Board members in 2009, which meetings they attended, and the Registrar’s expenses.

We have also published any expenditure over £500, from January to September 2010.  This information will be updated monthly.

Freedom of information

Under the Freedom of Information Act, we have made our documents publicly available.  Please see our Publication Scheme for more information.

Whistleblowing

ARB is responsible for regulating architects.  If we receive a complaint or information that isn’t related to an architect, we will consider who best we should forward this to in the public interest.  This may be a department within the organisation that is the subject of the complaint, or it may be another regulator or a public authority.  We will also consider whether it is necessary to liaise with another body if the complaint/information is relevant to any of ARB’s functions.  We would not, however, carry out the main investigation into the matter.
