Board's Strategy and Business plan
ARB’s Strategy
The Board has developed a strategy that informs how the work of the organisation is approached. It identifies three strategic aims:
- Protect the consumer
- Support architects through regulation
- Deliver the Architects Act 1997
At its meeting in November 2009, the Board adopted the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman’s Principles of Good Administration (
), further to support and underpin the strategic aims, and ARB’s own core values. The Principles will provide us with a standard and will promote sound administration throughout ARB.
In addition, the Board has developed five core values for ARB which are:
- Proportionality
ARB’s actions are proportionate, take account of the issues, the risks associated with the issues, and the costs involved. - Evidence-based objectivity
ARB is objective in taking decisions, and its actions are based on evidence. - Open-minded
ARB welcomes, encourages and considers the opinions of others. - Transparency
Wherever possible, ARB is transparent in its actions and makes information accessible to others. - Integrity
ARB is professional and honest, and treats everyone with respect.
Board’s business plan
The Board produces an annual business plan which sets out the operational objectives and tasks that it wishes to achieve in that year. The plans are split between the day-to-day core work of the organisation, and the developmental aspect of ARB’s work, arising from, for example, European legislation. The business plan helps us to identify the areas where resources are needed, as well as informing the budget-setting process for the following year.
The Board has agreed its business plan for 2010
