Consultation on a revised Equality Scheme
Open date: 11 August 2011
Closing date: 5pm on Friday 11 November 2011
Introduction
The Architects Registration Board was established by Parliament in 1997 to regulate the architects’ profession in the UK. We are an independent public interest body, and our work in regulating architects ensures that good standards within the profession are consistently maintained for the benefit of the public and architects alike.
Background to consultation
The Architects Registration Board has agreed to hold a consultation exercise on the proposed revision to ARB’s Single Equality Scheme. The consultation will comply with ARB’s code of practice for consultation exercises.
Purpose of consultation
Before formalising the Equality Scheme, it is important that we have as wide a range of views as possible. This input will assist the Board in its final consideration of the revised scheme before it is implemented. We would therefore appreciate any views or comments you might have on the proposed changes.
ARB has revised its Single Equality Scheme following the introduction of the Public Sector Equality Duty in April 2011. As a public body, ARB is subject to this duty but not the specific duties placed on public bodies and organisations listed in Schedule 19 to the Equality Act 2010. The revised scheme takes account of the public sector equality duty, while remaining proportionate for a body of ARB’s size.
The revised scheme is contained in the consultation response form.
