The Board’s Decision – Bachelor of Architecture with Honours
The Board at its meeting of 9th February 2006 decided that Nottingham Trent University’s Bachelor of Architecture with Honours qualification should be prescribed for the period from 30th September 2006 until 30th September 2010 under section 4(1)(a) of the Architects Act 1997 for the purposes of entry onto the United Kingdom Register of Architects.
Prescription of the qualification is subject to the standard conditions set out in Section 2.11 of the Board’s procedures, namely:
The period of prescription shall commence on 30th September 2006 (and expire on 30th September 2010).
Prescription of the qualifications shall be by reference to the programme specification, submitted with the application of 29th July 2005, for Nottingham Trent University’s Bachelor of Architecture with Honours qualification (3 years, full-time). No change may be made to the title of any course or qualification or substantial change to the content so defined within that programme specification (allowing for a normal course development) without first obtaining the written permission of the Board.

Annually by 30th June* each year, commencing on 30th June 2007, the institution is required to provide the Board with information of the nature set out in Appendix 2 in its procedures to enable the Board to see that all its criteria are being attained by students who have been awarded the qualification prescribed and the institution’s resources remain as set out in its application and are adequate.
The Board was confident that;
the course proposal, including educational aims, the intended learning outcomes, the assessment criteria etc. had been designed with the clear aim of ensuring that all those who received the qualification met all the ARB criteria.
the University had adequate systems in place to ensure that students awarded the qualification would meet all the criteria for the period of prescription.
the University had in place adequate resources to maintain, and where appropriate, increase the achievements of students in meeting the criteria.
In addition, the Board was also reassured by the University’s confirmation that it fully understood the standard conditions attached to prescription of the Bachelor of Architecture with Honours and that in the event of modification, the institution would notify ARB of any changes as they arose. The Board also noted the University’s confirmation that any significant changes made to its qualifications were required to be passed through the University Centre for Academic Standards and Quality Framework and were thus also subject to rigorous internal validation procedures.
* The annual monitoring date has been altered to 14th November, commencing on 14th November 200&. This change was approved by the Board at its meeting of 13th September 2007.
