Alex MacLaren is a Partner in Wyatt MacLaren Architects, working on small-scale public buildings and high-spec residential projects. She teaches in undergraduate design studios at Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt Universities and is a Founding Trustee the annual competition ‘TeambuildUK’, providing post- graduate construction training. Her research interests include cross-disciplinary collaboration and designing the ‘civic’.
Alex studied at Cambridge University, the Architectural Association and London Metropolitan University. She taught at Brighton University for several years before moving north to Edinburgh. In 2013 she was awarded a Teaching Fellowship from UC Berkeley to conduct further work with students on civic inclusivity. At ARB, she is an Examiner and part of the Competency Standards Group.
