Chris is a Registered Architect and chartered member of RIBA, and has been in practice for nearly 35 years (having graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne). He is currently associate/director of a small practice in Nottingham (with a branch in Oslo, Norway). Chris has worked mainly in the residential, retail, commercial, education and health sectors, and has some experience in community masterplanning.
Chris also operates as Senior Lecturer in Architecture, Technology and Environmental Science at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), where he runs a Professional Certificate in Architecture programme (for graduates in their year-out), in addition to looking after BArch year 1. Chris has previously developed and run a degree programme in building management and a pioneering HNC in facilities management.
Chris holds additional qualifications in town planning, business management and education. His previous experience includes some 18 years as principal of a one-man private practice (specialising in domestic-scale projects demanding attention to detailing), 6 years as manager of an architectural practice that he established within a regional building contractor’s company (specialising in the design and build sector), and another 6 as senior associate within a medium-sized practice in Norwich (for whom he developed an integrated management system combining QA procedures with environmental impact management).
