My name is Guy Maxwell, an architect who lives in Glasgow. Qualifying as a registered architect 1981, I worked in private practice as a director from 1985 until June 2016 and currently as a consultant to the same practice.
Familiar with the activities of the architectural institutions and governing bodies, I use my regional brogue, architectural perspective and experience for the benefit of the profession as a whole. More, I bring my previous experience of membership of boards in the public and private sector to the ARB table.
I started my architectural career equipped with a pencil, pen, rubber, razor and a roll of tracing paper. To be competent I now need computer servers, internet connectivity, laptops, software, laser printers plus a pencil and paper. The tools and practice of architecture have changed massively over the years and they will continue to evolve. What has not changed is my commitment to the profession and strong belief in the valuable role of architects in British society. By being on the board of ARB I hope to support our professions’ contribution to society, representing and advancing the interests of the public, architects and architecture.
