James Grierson is a Chartered Surveyor who has spent most of his career advising public sector, corporate and financial organisations on the strategic use, development and regeneration of property.
James was a Partner and Board Member of Donaldsons, a 1,000 strong firm of real estate advisors.
Following the firm’s sale to DTZ Plc in 2007 James spent 7 years there as Head of Corporate Real Estate Consultancy & Public Sector. Now, with a portfolio of consultancy and investment roles, James is a non-executive Advisor to Savills Plc, an Advisor to the Government Property Unit, Council Member at Durham University, Chair of the RICS Public Sector Executive and a Trustee of Lionheart (RICS Benevolent Fund).
As well as a personal and professional interest in Architecture James is also interested in heritage conservation. He is Secretary of the York Foundation for Conservation & Craftsmanship and a Trustee of York Museums Trust.
James has served as a Non-Executive Director on various boards including PMP, the North Yorkshire Health Authority and Goldsmiths College (London University).
James’s career has been split between the North and London. He has lived in and around York for over 30 years and has four grown-up daughters.
