Patrick Bligh-Cheesman (lay member)

Patrick spent some 32 years in Local Government in the Trading Standards Service with the last ten years as Head of Trading Standards for one of the larger authorities. After taking early retirement from this role, he set up a pilot specialist regional trading standards team for the east and south-east of England to investigate rogue trading.

Since then he has developed a portfolio in professional regulation and consumer affairs. He was formerly a Lay Member of the Board of the Surveyors Ombudsman Service and later a Lay Member of the Ombudsman Service Property Sector Liaison Panel. He is a former Independent Director and Interim Chairman of Cilex Regulation, the approved regulator for Chartered Legal Executives. He is also a Trustee Director of his local Citizens Advice Bureau and a lay member of the Professional Conduct Committee of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
