Peter Holgate

Biography

Dr. Peter Holgate studied architecture at the University of Liverpool and the University of Oregon and has been a qualified architect for over twenty five years, having practiced in London, San Francisco, Frankfurt am Main, and Newcastle upon Tyne. Before joining Northumbria University, he was a Project Director for FaulknerBrowns Architects, responsible for the delivery of several award-winning commercial, sports and civic buildings.

Upon joining Northumbria University, Peter assumed a variety of learning, teaching and assessment roles in the architecture department, including programme leadership of the MArch (Part II) and MA in Architectural Studies courses. Currently acting as Director of Education for the Department of Architecture and the Built Environment, Peter is involved with numerous faculty-wide and institutional-level quality enhancement initiatives and quality assurance responsibilities. He is a Principle Fellow and Academic Associate of the Higher Education Academy, a founder member of the Association of Architectural Educators, a committee member of the Assessment in Higher Education network, as well as an external examiner for Robert Gordon University and VIA University, Horsens.
