Professor Bob Giddings

Professor Bob Giddings is Chair of Architecture and Urban Design at Northumbria University.  He studied architecture at Newcastle University winning two prizes in design competitions. His interest in the integration of design and management led to a Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Building. A Master of Arts in Urban Studies was followed by a Doctorate in Architecture and Urban Design from the Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies at the University of York. Before university, Bob was employed as a Building Technologist in London but has since worked with a number of award-winning architectural practices. He has pioneered three innovative degree courses, including the Architecture programme at Northumbria University.  Bob has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in books, academic journals and international conference proceedings; supervises and examines PhD candidates; engages with schools of architecture around the world; and is currently visiting professor at two universities in Europe.  Recently he has become involved with the Association of Architectural Educators.
