New Admissions to the Register in 2001 (22/01/2002)
The Architects Registration Board (ARB) is responding to the profession’s desire to increase the profile of registered persons in the eyes of the public at large by publishing the names of those admitted to its Register during 2001. The list appeared in the 11 January edition of The Times (Times 2).
Robin Vaughan, Chief Executive & Registrar, commented:
“Publishing the list of new admissions to the Register is a step towards addressing the views of architects that ARB should do more to demonstrate to the general public that there is a class of professional people uniquely allowed in law to describe themselves as architects. That use of title, and the skills on which it rests, allied to the standards set out in the Architects Code : Standards of Conduct and Practice, do much to build the confidence of consumers in architects, who are operating in a transparent regime in which the public interest is fully met.”
The full list of admissions can also be viewed on ARB’s website, www.arb.org.uk under “The Register”.

Notes:
Recognition as a qualified architect in the UK requires a long and demanding period of academic study and practical work experience, in all, no less than seven years. Only at the end of such training, and having passed a recognised examination, can an individual be registered as an architect.
