ARB Board - Election of Chair and Vice-Chair (23/05/2002)
At a meeting of the Architects Registration Board on Thursday 23 May 2002, Owen Luder was elected as Chair, and Humphrey Lloyd as Vice-Chair.
Commenting on his election to the Chair, Owen Luder said:
“Having been Vice-Chairman for 5 years since ARB’s inception, I am delighted to become Chairman for what must be my last year as an ARB Board member. I am very conscious that as an architect, there is a need to balance carefully at all times ARB’s consumer protection responsibility with that of the concerns and reputation of the profession.”
Newly elected Vice-Chairman Humphrey Lloyd said that he hoped to complement Owen’s qualities, and as a non- architect, provide a contribution that was both informed and independent of any group. He added:
“It is crucial to the profession of architects that its clients can rely on it, and there should be no conflict between the interests of the ‘consumer’ and the profession.”
