ARB Board 2006 Business Plan (09/09/2005)
At its meeting in London on 8 September, the ARB Board approved its 2006 Business Plan. In furtherance of its statutory responsibilities, ARB has resolved that in 2006, to support its core work in discharging the Act, it will:
- Undertake a comprehensive review of the Architects Code : Standards of Conduct and Practice
- Further consider its work on title abuse to ensure it is meeting the expectations of the profession and the public
- Explore with stakeholders models for qualifications prescribed at Part 3 level to ensure that the needs of practices and of those taking the qualifications are met
- Continue its work, in discussion with the RIBA and other stakeholders, to assure both the public and the profession that those on the Register remain competent to practise throughout their professional lives
- Continue its work to streamline and develop its administrative processes through the use of IT, providing registrants with a secure and efficient service, with easy acess to information
The Board recognises that the profession and the public expects it to be prudent and economical in discharging its duties. The Board actively pursues a policy of getting value for money. Despite the pressing calls on the Board, it has managed to keep the increase in the 2006 retention fee to £2. This is slightly below the current retail price index, and means that the retention fee, now at £76.50, continues to remain one of the lowest amongst professions with statutory protection.
