ARB opens its doors to all in Architecture Week – learn how to find an architect (12/06/2007)
The architects’ regulator, ARB is taking part in Architecture Week 2007 and on Tuesday 19 June, we are opening our doors at 8 Weymouth Street, London W1, to anyone who is interested in learning more about us and our work. We will be open from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm, and we hope that as many people as possible will take this opportunity to come and talk to us.
We particularly want to highlight to members of the public the risks involved in using an unqualified individual for a building project. Becoming an architect takes many years of study and practical training – valuable skills and experience that an unqualified practitioner may well lack. Architects are subject to a Code of Conduct and Practice which sets out the standards of professional conduct expected of an architect.
ARB is the only body in the United Kingdom that keeps the Register of Architects. We are always pleased to confirm an architect’s registration, and in those cases where someone is wrongly presenting themselves as an architect to members of the public, we will take steps to ensure this does not continue.
