- There are more than 32,000 architects on our register.
- We publish a code which sets standards of conduct and practice for architects.
- It is illegal for anyone to offer their services as an architect if they’re not on our register.
- We can prosecute people in business or practice who call themselves an ‘architect’ when they’re not on our register
- We regulate architects across the whole of the UK.
- We are the only organisation in the UK that decides what qualifications are needed to become an architect.
- We expect all practising architects to have professional indemnity insurance.
- Our Professional Conduct Committee can reprimand, fine, suspend or remove an architect from our register if they fall short of our standards.
- There are 15 members on our Board – eight of these are members of the public appointed by the Privy Council, and seven are architects elected by their fellow professionals.
- A board member’s term of office runs for three years, but they can serve for six years if they are re-appointed or re-elected.
