Annual retention fee
Every architect on the Register has to pay an annual retention fee if they want to keep their registration. The fee is due on 1 January each year, although the deadline for payment is 31 March.
Non-payment of the fee will result in your name being removed from the Register. There are costs involved if you then wish to rejoin, as follows.
You will pay:
- Twice the current year's fee if you rejoin up to two years after you were removed.
- Three times the current year's fee if you rejoin more than two years after you were removed.
In addition, if you have been off the Register for two years or more, our Competency Standards Group will review your application to re-register. You will need to give additional information about yourself, such as a detailed cv, references and evidence of continuing professional development. This allows the Group to assess whether you are competent to practise.
However long you have been off the Register, you will never be charged more than three times the current year's fee to rejoin.
