Routes to Registration

2. Prescribed Qualifications

2(iv) Non Directive Rights Nationals with Listed EEA qualifications

The Architects Act 1997: Section 4 states-

“A person who has applied to the Registrar in the prescribed manner for registration in pursuance of this section in Part 1 of the Register is entitled to be registered if-

  1. he holds such qualifications and has gained such practical experience as may be prescribed; or
  2. he has a standard of competence which, in the opinion of the Board, is equivalent to that demonstrated by satisfying paragraph (a).

Accordingly, a person who holds a qualification which is specifically listed in the Directive may be deemed by ARB to hold qualifications that are equivalent to a prescribed UK Part 1 and Part 2.

Persons holding qualifications that are incomplete will be required to sit the Board’s examination at Part 1 and/or Part 2 level.

Non-DRNs will normally be required to take a UK part 3 before being eligible to apply for registration.
