ARCHITECTS REGISTRATION BOARD PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT COMMITTEE IN THE MATTER OF CHRISTOPHER HARRISON (066721H) on 18 June 2008 Cliffords Inn Conference Centre Present: Chair: Mrs Angela Deacon Miss Nicola Hill appeared as Clerk to the Committee Transcribed by Harry Counsell & Co. CHARGE The charge is that the architect has been convicted of a criminal offence, other than an offence which has no material relevance to his fitness to practice as an architect. DECISION THE CHAIRMAN: The Board was represented by Mr Iain Miller. Mr Christopher Harrison did not attend and was not represented. He had written to the Committee to indicate he was happy for the matter to be dealt with in his absence and the Committee read two letters of reference. Mr Christopher Harrison was convicted of serious sexual offences, to which he admitted, involving two girls; one aged eleven and one aged fourteen. The seriousness of these offences is illustrated by a prison sentence of six years and a requirement to be registered as a sex offender for life. Although the convictions were not connected to his work as an architect, they do have a material impact as to his fitness to practise. Neither the protection of the public nor the reputation of the profession can be safeguarded other than by an erasure order. That is the decision. |
